Visiting Santa

We took David to the Mall of America on Wednesday to see Santa. Other than being a little intimidated, David thoroughly enjoyed the day. On the way home, David started thanking us for every detail of the day, "thank you for taking me on the train and thank you for going in the parking ramp and thank you ..."

While at the Mall, we thought it would be fun to bring David to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Well, that may not have been the best idea ... he was terrified of the gorillas. He wanted to sit in our laps the entire time, and when he did sit in his chair, he just covered his ears and stared plankly across the table. So I took him back in my lap, where he hid his face in my arms. Then Matt and I noticed his hands where folded together, and we wondered if he was praying. On the way out, Matt asked if he was praying, and David answered yes. Then Matt asked what he prayed, and David responded, "I asked Jesus to keep me safe from the monkeys ... and he did!" We were a bit impressed that he prayed - totally unprompted and in his own time of need.
