Wild River State Park

Matt and I enjoyed our first night alone since David was born, thanks to our friend's Todd and Sonja who watched him for us. We had an amazing time. Wild River has 8 backpacking sites, and though we didn't see any of the others, ours had to be the best. It was absolutely beautiful with a canopy of trees over our site. We were up on a ridge on a small piece of land that jutted out from the hill, and on three sides of our site the hill dropped off. Words just don't due it justice - it was so cool!

Anyway, our hike was only 1.27 miles in, so we were able to add a little weight to bring some luxury items, such as the ipod with speakers, the camp axe to cut wood, plenty off food including everything we needed for smores and books for some reading. It was our own little spot of paradise, and the only interuption was the loud music coming from Wild Mountain just a few miles away. Oh well, at least they were done by 11 p.m. or so.

So yes, it was a very, very good time. Matt and I were up at 6:00, packed out at 8:00, home to shower by 9:40 and at church by 10:00 - not bad!
